Foot and Ankle Pain

The foot is a complex structure of more than 26 bones, 33 joints, and more than 100 muscles, tendons, and ligaments. There will be times when one of these may give you discomfort.

Foot pain can be caused by an injury, disease, or poor fitting footwear and comes in a variety of forms, the most common of which are:

  • Ankle sprain/strain
  • Achilles tendonitis
  • Plantar fasciitis, heel pain
  • Altered foot biomechanics (which can also sometimes cause other symptoms with knees, hips or back pain)
  • Metatarsalgia

At Tavistock Physio Clinics, we look at the symptoms, causes and possible treatment options including foot biomechanics, pelvic alignment and muscle balance,  then give you a home management programme including strengthening and  stretching, to help prevent or manage future injury.

Assessing ankle movement

We also hold runners assessment clinics where we video and assess your gait and perform a movement screening assessment.
